I ran into the C.O.B.E.'s wife....

i was shopping, looking at a handbag, when m****** rushed up to me and gave me a hug.

startled, i looked up to see a sister who was never friendly when i attended her cong.

It took a while to realize how they use the word miss.

Their usage is more like when you say to someone who is wiping off their mouth and say "you missed a spot".

They don't mean they missed you, as in. I miss seeing you. I'm sad if I don't get to be around you. etc.

They are simply stating the fact you weren't somewhere that you were supposed to be. I missed you at the hall is really - YOU MISSED.

It is not genuine. It's just a passive aggressive swing that JWs love taking at one another.

Ah, the brotherly love is so special!

My Local Congregation are Idiots

had my semi-annual jw visit and it was the local congregation giving the invitations to the upcoming dc.

the presentation was the standard 3 second "all the information is inside--goodbye" wastes which this work has become.. .

just one problem.... the congregation i guess didn't realize that they had to put on the time, date and address themselves!!!!

maybe the rest of the invites do have the date, time and place written or stamped in

perhaps they don't really want you to attend...

nah.... it's more likely they are just idiots.

Pascal's Wager, Best Answer I Have Heard

many of us have heard of pascal's wager.

basically that you can bet on god and receive an infinite reward, or you can bet against him and live an easier life for 80 years.

this guy proves that the wager is really misstated.. .

Can You See How Idiotic The JW Religion Now Is?

i was telling my gf about my mom's removal as a regular pioneer when she was about 80 years old because she went to my daughter's wedding (and she married a non-jw).. my girlfriend couldn't grasp the severity of my mother's sin and as i explained the witnesses' position, it all sounded so absurd!.

have you experienced anything similar?.

I remember a situation someone related to me once where a JW was with his "wordly" workmate in a social setting with a group of educated professional people.

The discussion eventually got around to linguistics and the history and development of languages.

The worldly friend of the JW, coaxed his JW friend to tell everyone at the table where all the different languages really came from (in reference to the incredibly ridiculous tower of babel story).

This proved extremely embarassing for the JW who realized how absurd the explanation was while he was trying to relate it. He actually distanced himself from the story right then and there. It didn't take long for that individual to fade away.

Sometimes all it takes is one overwhelming absurd teaching to cause the lights to come on....
